Land of Promise - The BFI National Archive
Venue: Showroom 3
Wednesday 05 November 2008 16:15
Our beloved BFI session highlights key documentary projects at the BFI National Archive that are revealing both the familiar and unfamiliar aspects of our documentary heritage, providing new opportunities for re-evaluation of content. Rare examples from the history of British documentary will be screened. Introduced by Patrick Russell, Senior Curator of Non Fiction, this session also includes a screening of the winning entries from the Britain Recut competition hosted on Channel Four. Public information films from the 1940s and 50s were repurposed to comment on aspects of life in contemporary Britain. Mosaic Films worked in association with the BFI to produce 4 programmes for transmission in the Three Minute Wonder slot. Introduced by BFI Archive Producer Jan Faull.
