One of the best environmental documentaries this year, ‘Flow’ comes out of nowhere and makes you sit up in your seat a little straighter. An examination into human water consumption and the Earth’s supply patterns reveals a glaring monopoly: who is controlling the world’s water supplies? Delving into the question with the help of scientists and activists the world over uncovers gross corporate greed and misconduct in the face of global catastrophe. Amazingly this makes the energy crisis seem a little less significant. Filmmaker Irena Salina, however, also investigates societies that are creating their own solutions to battle the water crises against lackluster governmental concern. Unflinching, smart and determined, ‘Flow’ sparks a debate the world can not afford to mute itself over, as it has with global warming.
