Who should attend?
Sheffield Doc/Fest offers opportunities for experienced, debut and student filmmakers. Newcomers Day gives new filmmakers the opportunity to learn more about the industry and how to get involved. DocDay Afternoon gives students the opportunity to meet up with mentors from across the documentary community to discuss their film projects. MeetMarket allows filmmakers the opportunity to pitch projects to commissioning editors, distributors, funders and other executives from the UK, Europe and the world. MeetMarket 2008 submissions open 16 June, and close on 12 September. At Sheffield Doc/Fest you will be able to meet with many documentary EPs, commissioners, broadcasters, distributors and other buyers.
Sheffield Doc/Fest offers in-depth filmmaker masterclasses, controversial discussion panels, incisive interviews and detailed case studies. Guests range from legendary masters of the creative documentary form to presenters of popular factual TV and include representation from all parts of the global doc industry.
Sessions at Sheffield Doc/Fest include keynote addresses and interviews with some of the world's leading documentary filmmakers and broadcasters. You are invited to submit your own session idea, ideas that you think are important, to be discussed at the festival. You can submit session ideas via our online system, before 4 July. The ideas will be discussed and selected by the Doc/Fest team and advisory committee.
Go doc-watching and experience our programme of over 75 new international documentary films, showcasing some of the greatest talent working in the genre today. In 2008 Sheffield Doc/Fest will present a number of films and panels around the theme of Regime Change. Other film strands in the festival include Green Docs, Anti Docs, Bent Docs and Music Docs. Submissions are open for docs. Films of any style or subject are accepted for consideration into the 2008 official programme and/or into Doc/Fest's digitised videotheque, whether you are an established or debut filmmaker. The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2008.
The registration deadline for delegates is 8 October 2008.
There are also various volunteer opportunities at the festival. Volunteer applications for the festival will open in August.
