Matrescence

A black and white composite of ultrasound scans, arranged in a grid format. Each frame captures a fetus at various angles and different stages of gestation.

Matrescence will explore the maternal metamorphosis that occurs in pregnancy, birth and beyond. The film captures the beauty and violence of this transformation, whilst shining a light on the systemic failings that can make motherhood so hard; ultimately asking how we might do better.
