This page includes a list of our festival venues for the 2026 festival; click the links on each banner below to find out more details about each venue, including accessibility information.

Please note that while most of our festival venues are within walking distance of each other and of the train and bus stations, Sheffield is quite hilly and can be challenging for someone with reduced mobility. Uber and Veezu operate taxi services in Sheffield, and it is possible to request a wheelchair accessible taxi through their apps.

Showroom Cinema

The Showroom Cinema is an independent art house cinema and where DocFest began in 1994. It is housed in a 1936 art deco building which was formerly the Kennings car dealership.

The Showroom will host Screenings throughout the festival.

The Light Cinema

The Light Cinema Sheffield, located at The Moor. it boasts 953 seats across 9 screens, two of which will be allocated to DocFest over the festival period. .

The Light will host Screenings throughout the festival.

Curzon Cinema

A three-screen boutique cinema in Sheffield, Curzon is housed in a converted 19th Century bank with a stunning rooftop bar and terrace.

The Curzon will host Screenings & Industry Sessions throughout the festival.

The Crucible

The Crucible is part of Sheffield Theatres, the largest theatre complex outside of London. 

The Crucible will host Industry Sessions, Public Talks and Screenings throughout the festival.

The Lyceum Theatre

With over a hundred years of history, this beautiful traditional theatre provides an ornate backdrop to the very best of the West End and a window on the world 

The Lyceum will host Industry Sessions, Public Talks and Screenings throughout the festival.

The Montgomery Theatre

Since 1886, The Montgomery has been a pillar of Sheffield community for championing the rights of children to explore creativity.

The Montgomery will host Industry Sessions & Public Talks throughout the festival.

Showroom Workstation

Housed in the iconic Kenning House, a 1930s Art Deco building (formerly Kenning’s Wonder Garage), and found in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, Workstation has a direct link to the city’s rich creative and industrial history.

This is the location of our Delegate Centre throughout the festival, in addition to The Creative Lounge which plays host to Industry Sessions.

Yorkshire Artspace Persistence Works

Founded in 1977, Yorkshire Artspace is a gallery that runs a public programme of exhibitions and events that bring contemporary art and craft into view. They also support artists’ development through residencies, and access to subsidised facilities

Yorkshire Artspace Persistence Works will host the Alternate Realities Exhibition throughout the festival.

Sheffield Hallam University Performance Lab

Sheffield Hallam University’s drama space for the Faculty of Development and Society is situated in Arundel Gate Court and features two theatre studios and state-of-the-art lighting and audio rigs.

The Performance Lab will host a portion of the Alternate Realities Exhibition throughout the festival.

Sheffield Amphitheatre

Under the shadow of Europe's largest grade II listed building, Park Hill, it has been used for performances, screenings, installations and as a filming location for many TV programmes and films. 

This year it will play host to a special listening event as part of the festival.
