We are International Documentary Festival Sheffield. Our main place of business is: The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield, S1 2BX, UK. Throughout these terms and conditions when we mention ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ etc, we mean International Documentary Festival Sheffield. When we refer to ‘you’ we mean the pass or ticket holder and/or user of our website https://sheffdocfest.com.
1. About Your Membership
By purchasing a Membership, you agree to these Terms. Memberships support our charitable work but do not make you a legal member of the charity.
2. Eligibility
Membership is for individuals aged 18+. Memberships are personal and non-transferable.
3. What You Get
Membership benefits may include:
- Priority booking
- Free or discounted festival tickets and passes
- Member-only events
- Merchandise discounts
- Early and/or exclusive access to programme related content
Benefits vary by tier and may be subject to availability.
4. Duration & Renewal
Membership lasts 12 months from purchase.
The following Memberships are set to auto-renew after 12 months:
DocFriend
DocFan
Auto-renewal can be turned off at any time before the renewal date from within your account. All other Membership tiers do not auto-renew.
Sheffield DocFest reserves the right to change the annual Membership fee and included benefits at the point of renewal. You will be informed of any price change at least 30 days before auto-renewal.
5. Fees & Gift Aid
Membership fees include VAT if applicable.
Fees are not usually eligible for Gift Aid because you receive benefits.
If any portion is a voluntary donation, we will make this clear at checkout.
6. Using Your Membership
Please do not share Membership logins or benefits.
We may cancel Memberships for misuse or inappropriate behaviour at events.
7. Changes to Events
Programmes, venues, guests, and schedules may change. If major benefits cannot be delivered, we will offer reasonable remedies under UK consumer law.
8. Cancellation & Refunds
You have a 14-day cooling-off period from purchase to cancel for a full refund, provided you haven’t used any benefits. After 14 days, fees are non-refundable unless required by law.
Memberships are non-transferable.
9. Your Privacy
We handle your data under UK GDPR.
You’ll receive essential service emails. You can opt in/out of marketing anytime.

10. Liability
We are not responsible for indirect losses (e.g., travel costs).
Nothing limits our liability for fraud, or for death or injury caused by negligence.
11. Charity Governance & Member Communications
As part of our charitable obligations, we may provide Members with updates on our charitable work, annual impact summaries, and governance notices relevant to the Festival.
Purchasing a Membership does not confer any governance rights, trustee rights, or charity membership under charity law.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with disputes handled by English courts unless consumer rights say otherwise.
