Join this year’s BAFTA Elevate filmmakers to explore sustaining a documentary career, as rising stakes, creative risk and industry pressure reshape what it takes to keep going.

The industry talks a lot about breaking in and making it, but far less about what it takes to keep going. As credits grow, the stakes rise, and so does the pressure to make work that stands out. Going the Distance brings together a selection of this year’s BAFTA Elevate filmmakers - mid-to-senior documentary and specialist factual creatives - to talk about what sustaining a career at this level really involves, and the relationships that shape it. From holding onto creative vision to getting ambitious ideas made, the session looks at the pressures shaping mid-career practice and asks: what does it really take to stay in it for the long haul?

Speakers:
Cara Bowen (Producer and Director)
Jemma Gander (Producer and Director)
Margareta Szabo (Producer)
