This panel will explore the challenges facing filmmakers and journalists in an age of disinformation. Inspired by the new documentary premiering at Sheffield DocFest, My Blonde GF, which explores the damage caused by deepfake pornography, the panel will explore human values of privacy, truth and trust.

The event will begin with a screening of My Blonde GF (19 mins), followed by a discussion with local Sheffield creatives Helen Mort (Poet & subject) and Rebecca Mark-Lawson (Producer), alongside Rosie Morris (Director). Moderated by Lindsay Poulton, Head of Documentaries at The Guardian.

My Blonde GF: When an acquaintance knocked on Helen's door to tell her he had seen explicit photos of her on a porn site, she couldn’t believe it. She had never shared intimate photos of herself, but her face had been digitally edited onto images of women in violent and sexually explicit scenarios. In this disturbing story of deepfake porn, Helen shares the immense impact this episode has had on her life.

Content Guidance: Contains offensive language and references to sexual abuse.
