Co-curated by #DocSafe and Film in Mind, the #DocSafe roundtables continue international dialogue across multiple forums, advancing safer, more equitable documentary practices and supporting an emerging community of practice (this is a closed session, by invitation only).

Co-curated by #DocSafe and Film in Mind, the #DocSafe roundtables at Sheffield DocFest build on earlier discussions at Durban FilmMart, DOK Leipzig, IDFA and the Amman Film Industry Days. Initially co-conceptualised by industry curator Themba Bhebe and strategic consultant Marion Schmidt, these sessions have examined multiple dimensions of safety within the documentary sector, including cultural and political safety, accountability and restorative justice, sexual harassment, abuse of power, and power dynamics, as well as curatorial justice and accountability in selection and programming contexts.

In Sheffield, and in line with the outcomes of previous gatherings, the aim is to deepen the dialogue, broaden participation by including additional perspectives, and further develop an emerging community of practice committed to safer, more equitable working environments in documentary filmmaking.
