Critically acclaimed stalwarts  nay, legends! – of the Sheffield Electronic music scene, the Eccentronic Research Council perform The Dreamcatcher Tapes live with Maxine Peake.

Doors open at 6:30pm
Performance starts at 7pm

The Eccentronic Research Council aka Mr Adrian Flanagan (The Moonlandingz) and Mr Dean Honer (I Monster) join Sheffield DocFest with their long time collaborator/narrator of choice, BAFTA-nominated Actor Maxine Peake. The group make a rare appearance to perform a selection of tracks from their Dreamcatcher Tapes album, which sourced voice recordings of dreams (and nightmares) from artists, writers, scientists, nurses and shop workers, sent to the group during 2020’s pandemic.

For one night only, Maxine Peake and the band will perform the piece live. Like the dreams themselves, expect the weird.

The album was originally released to pay homage to the 50th anniversary of Delia Derbyshire & Barry Bermange’s Inventions for Radio album by BBC Radiophonic Workshop, where the radiophonic duo soundtracked people’s recalled dreams in The Dreams broadcast.

"A weird record made in weird times about our weirdest function by weird people for weird people!" - John Doran, The Quietus.

"Discombobulatingly psychedelic and vaguely hauntological – like some mid-point between surreal public information films and ‘Play For Today’ from a parallel 1970s universe. Also Danceable and great fun. A real treat!" - Electronic Sounds
