This conversation brings together filmmakers and industry workers to speak openly about the realities of balancing creative careers with the complexities of human life.
Our industry often asks people to separate their personal lives from their professional ones. But for many filmmakers, producers and creatives, that separation simply doesn’t exist.
Caring responsibilities, illness, immigration concerns, disability, financial pressure, fertility journeys, relationship breakdowns and the everyday unpredictability of life all shape who we are and how we work. Yet too often these realities are treated as individual challenges to manage quietly rather than structural issues the industry must collectively address as an evolving practice.
How do we have these conversations in the workplace and what can we do to create space for these challenges to inform and support our work, rather than hide in plain sight? This is a practical and collective panel and one that will invite audience members to share their toolkits to better our industry going forward.
