In discussion with Mark Edwards (ARTE, Netflix Europe), this session moves beyond diagnosis to focus on solutions, inviting the room into a shared effort to shape a more sustainable and ambitious future for the sector.
Drawing on a career spanning commissioning and production, including roles at BBC Storyville, ABC Australia and as Global Head of Documentaries at Fremantle, Mandy reflects on her vision for the DFC, from immediate priorities to long-term change, and addresses why the UK needs a new, member-led organisation now. The DFC has already brought together nearly 1,000 members working across the documentary field, spanning both television and independent feature filmmaking.
Both Mandy and Mark bring a rare dual perspective across broadcast and independent documentary, with careers that move fluidly between the two. Together, they will explore how professionals across the documentary ecosystem can better navigate this landscape, drawing on Mark’s international experience.
