Anatomía de un Retrato
A rural Colombian woman plans to donate her body to science and commissions her own posthumous portrait, in a tender, inventive meditation on life, death and the human body.
Nilza lives in the Colombian countryside and has made an unusual decision: when she dies, her body will go to science. But first, she wants a picture of how she'd like to be remembered. She finds Paula, an artist who works as a life model, and together they begin a collaboration that blurs the line between portrait and premonition. Through formally inventive imagery, Anatomy of a Portrait places these two women side by side, their reflections on mortality and other universes intertwining with playful visual experimentation. Still photography, painting and cinema merge in a short film with an unexpectedly epic quality, where questions about what happens after death open out into something stranger and more wondrous.
