A raw coming-of-age self-portrait in which the Afro-Latina filmmaker stares down historical, societal and intergenerational trauma with unflinching courage.

Rebeca ‘Beba’ Huntt accepts the challenge she has set herself: ‘Every one of us inherits the curses of our ancestors. But we may put an end to this cycle by constantly going to war with ourselves. I’m watching the curses of my family slowly kill us. So, I’m going to war… And there will be casualties.’ Her film is an attempt to forge her own creative path, while simultaneously engaging with the history of her family and culture, examining how new and ancient wounds shape people, and how to break free of these burdens against a backdrop of intense racial and political unease.
