This animated VR docu-drama immerses viewers in one of the largest forced migrations in human history: the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan.
Inspired by real life accounts of three witnesses from both sides of the India-Pakistan border, Child of Empire offers a fresh perspective on the individual impact of forced migration. Over a boardgame, Ishar Das Arora, an Indian Hindu who migrated from Pakistan to India, and Iqbal-ud-din Ahmed, a Pakistani Muslim, share childhood memories of the seismic and sometimes catastrophic movement of people. As the two men unpack their memories, audiences are an avatar of a seven-year-old child at key points in the migration.
