A twelve year old farmer brings his favourite goat to compete at a country fair in Maine, where a conversation about death changes everything.

Shot entirely on 16mm at the historic Blue Hill Fair, Children & Animals introduces us to Joey, whose best friends are a 70 year old farmer named Debby and a goat named Grace. When Debby shares the story of her favourite goat's death on the way to the fair, Joey can't shake the thought that one day Grace will be gone too. What follows is a restless wander through the chaos of the fair, all leading up to the goat show where Joey and Grace face the scrutiny of discerning judges and an eager crowd.
