Award-winning artist Baff Akoto presentsCollateral Echoes, an immersive installation that honours the lives, memories, and potential of Black and immigrant Britons disproportionately killed following police contact since 1969. Blending XR, moving-image, archival material and evocative sound design, the piece features first-person testimonies, historical imagery, and performances — including prose by Paapa Essiedu and poetry by the late Benjamin Zephaniah. Collateral Echoes moves beyond headlines and statistics, offering a deeply human exploration of mental health, racial disparities, the immigrant experience, and collective memory. Inviting audiences into spaces of nostalgia, loss, grievance and joy, Akoto’s work gives a voice to the communities that continue to survive, resist and remember.
