There are over 550,000 private security guards in South Africa — more than the combined total of police officers and soldiers in the country. Tuva Björk takes us on a disturbing journey into the compounds of the rich, observing the security forces who are hired to protect them. With persistent questioning and a knowing gaze, the film slowly dissolves the illusion of security, burrowing into the fragile atmosphere of inequality, paranoia and toxic masculinity that underpins South Africa’s security industry.
