The fungus that first facilitated life on earth, 470 million years ago, again inspires new worlds in this collaborative film by artist Gregory Herbert and mycologist Professor Katie J. Field.

Amidst the rubble of broken symbionts, traces of a resurgence appear, flora pushing through. Multi-species assemblages signalling, exchanging, building.

The fungus that facilitated life on earth, again inspiring new worlds. As we spiral further into climate catastrophe, how do we break away from these capitalist cycles. How do we channel this energy into cycles of reciprocity?

Made collaboratively by artist Gregory Herbert and Professor Katie J. Field from the Institute for Sustainable Food at the University of Sheffield.

Commissioned by Sheffield DocFest as part of the DocFest Exchange, with support from Wellcome Trust. This film will screen as part of the compilation Beyond Our Own Eyes.
