Samuel wants the life any average 21-year-old desires, and he’s determined that his disability will not get in the way of achieving his dreams.

Expanding on the Emmy-award-winning 2022 short My Disability Roadmap, The Ride Ahead finds Samuel Habib at a critical juncture in his life – transitioning to adulthood and embracing all the challenges, pitfalls and opportunities that come with it. Co-directing with his father Dan once again, Samuel navigates a pathway through education, potential career moves and personal relationships. Using a wheelchair equipped with communication device, Samuel sets out with Dan on a journey across the US, interviewing disability activists to explore the gulf between personal ambitions and societal expectations. ‘I want to figure out how to follow my dreams,’ Samuel notes. Articulate and impassioned, The Ride Ahead asks significant questions about the diversity, inclusion and marginalised communities, and the role disability rights plays in our society.
