In Puerto Rico, a multi-generational group of women confront violence and abuse through a shared creative fantasy rich in colour, mythology and play.
Together, they build an imaginary world that becomes a space for healing, drawing on Caribbean mythology and a vivid visual language to face what they have lived through. Matininó moves between the grounded and the fantastical, mixing intimate, kitchen table conversations with moments of self-aware, playful fantasy. As the women share their fears and traumas, the world they are creating together grows richer and more absorbing, its mythology deepening alongside their honesty with each other and themselves. A first feature from Puerto Rico that sits at the intersection of personal testimony and collective imagination.
