Filmed over ten years, a Syrian family's journey from a shelled apartment in Aleppo to a new life in Germany reveals the hidden costs of survival.
One In A Million follows Isra'a from childhood through marriage and motherhood as her family tries to rebuild in a country where everything from the language to the culture is unfamiliar. What looks at first like a close, loving family begins to show cracks, and as the years pass, the pressures of displacement reshape each of them in different ways. Isra'a grows up navigating between two worlds, eventually returning to Syria with a family of her own. A decade of filming means you live alongside this family through it all: the settling, the fractures, the quiet shifts in who they are to each other and who they become.
Content Guidance: Film contains scenes of war and domestic violence.
